Las Vegas Shows Return, with New State Guidelines

MGM Resorts is phasing entertainment venues back into its offerings

On with the Las Vegas shows. Starting on February 18, 2021, per revised state guidelines and with adjusted seat capacities, MGM Resorts is turning the lights up at seven Las Vegas Strip entertainment venues.

Las Vegas shows that are revving back to life range from the comedy of Brad Garrett and Carrot Top to the tribute band stylings of The Australian Bee Gees and the male revue Thunder From Down Under.

Shows now open can seat up to 100 people. It’s expected that by March 15, capacities could jump to 250, per mandate from Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak.

“Bringing entertainment back to the Las Vegas experience is key to our city’s recovery and we will work closely with our partners to do so, with the health and safety of our employees and guests as a priority,” MGM Resorts’ President of Entertainment and Sports George Kliavkoff says.

Details are also forthcoming regarding available MGM venues for viewing March Madness, the wildly popular annual NCAA Basketball Tournament (check back soon on junketsandjaunts.com.) Visitors regularly cause a citywide hotel sellout during March Madness in Las Vegas, which was a washout in 2020 due to COVID-19.

For all show venues, guidelines require guests to be physically distanced at six (6) feet between parties and a minimum of 25 feet from on-stage performers. In some cases, the show’s venue may reflect a change from previous performances, in order to meet all guidelines.

MGM Resorts is still implementing its comprehensive Seven Point Safety Plan and an Entertainment & Sporting Events “Convene with Confidence” program. These multi-layered plans cover everything from sanitation stations, masking and physical distancing to digital solutions that minimize touch points and enhanced cleaning protocol.
