San Diego Comic-Con Cosplay Photos 2019

Opportunities for great San Diego Comic-Con cosplay photos are abundant. Just step outside the convention center and head up Fifth Avenue. You’ll meet more Deadpools than you can point and click at. Wonder Woman comes in all shapes and sizes. And even if you don’t quite know who the superhero in front of you is, just wave your camera phone at them and they’ll stop and pose for you.

These San Diego Comic-Con cosplay photos were taken on Day 3 (Saturday). It didn’t take long to collect a baker’s dozen shots of cosplayers obliging anybody who wanted a picture. On Fifth Avenue, crowds quickly surround any well-dressed character who stops to satisfy selfie seekers. It’s all good fun. Enjoy this snapshot of Day 3 during Comic-Con’s 50th anniversary year.

Tom Cruise is surrounded by Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien.

Celebrities are also all over the place. Stars from Game of Thrones, Westworld, Veronica Mars, Walking Dead and many, many other movies and TV shows are booked to appear on Comic-Con panels. It’s also not uncommon to find celebs on the convention show floor, or dipping in and out of the Hard Rock Hotel.

A personal highlight: On Day 1 (Thursday), I woud up with a ticket to see a taping of Conan at the Spreckels Theater. Comedian Conan O’Brien is back to San Diego for the fifth straight year to shoot four episodes for his TBS late-night show. This was my third year of scoring a ticket.

The unannouced guest for the show: Tom Cruise. “Maverick” brought the trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Top Gun. That iconic movie–shot in San Diego–came out way back in 1986. That was 33 years ago. The need for speed? Not exactly.  J&J
